About Mike | Hudson Valley Wedding & Portrait Photographer

I’m Mike Pittman, a wedding and portrait photographer based in New York’s Hudson Valley. I work throughout the Hudson Valley, including Rhinebeck, Beacon, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Cold Spring, and New Paltz.

I photograph people the way they actually are: relaxed, connected, emotional, and completely themselves. Whether it’s a wedding overlooking the Hudson River, engagement photos in the Catskills, or family portraits at sunset, my goal is always the same — create timeless images that feel real.

Photography That Feels Natural

Most people tell me they feel awkward in front of a camera. That’s completely normal. My approach is relaxed and documentary-driven, with just enough direction to help you feel comfortable without turning the experience into a stiff photoshoot. I focus on genuine moments, natural light, authentic emotion, and clean editing that won’t feel dated years from now. No forced poses. No fake smiles.Just photos that feel like you.

A Local Hudson Valley Photographer

The Hudson Valley isn’t just where I work. It’s home, and I love to share it with the world when I can. A few of my go-to favorites should be on your list (I'm not biased, I swear).

The Caffeine Fix: I’m a frequent flyer at Ready Coffee (if you see me in the drive-thru, say hi!).

Weekend Brunch: Nothing beats a Saturday morning at Matchbox Cafe in Rhinebeck.

Dinner with a View: You’ll often find me grabbing a table at Hudson Taco in Newburgh—those views of the river never get old.

The Local Hangout: When I want a classic, cozy atmosphere, Tavern23 in Poughkeepsie is my go-to.

I know the quiet scenic spots, the best golden-hour locations, and how quickly Hudson Valley weather can change. That local experience helps sessions feel easy, flexible, and personal.

When I’m not photographing people, I’m usually woodworking, exploring the Valley, or noticing good light in places that probably don’t require that much attention.

If you’re looking for a Hudson Valley wedding or portrait photographer who keeps things relaxed and authentic, I’d love to hear from you.

"Mike took photos of our wedding in the middle of the pandemic and everything came out perfect. We immediately booked him for our big wedding party the next  year.

5 stars, A+, 10/10!"
