April in the Hudson Valley means one of two things: hot and balmy, or cold and wet. For the Conway family's portraits, it was cold, wet, dreary, and completely overcast — in other words, ideal light for portraits, with nothing in the sky to distract from the faces in front of the camera. This was deep into COVID, and the family had gathered for a simple reason: it was their matriarch's birthday wish. The guys were, understandably, not thrilled about getting dressed up after eighteen months of near-permanent sweatpants, but the vibe worked anyway — a relaxed afternoon, a family gathered for a portrait and a good meal, with the Hudson River drifting by underneath it all.
