Matt let me in on a secret a few days before his wedding: he'd had his tuxedo custom made while on vacation with Lisa in Vietnam, more than a year before the wedding even happened, and he was more anxious about it fitting than most brides are about their dress. He didn't need to worry. He cut a sharp figure in that tux on the day.

Their wedding was a full one, start to finish. I arrived at 10am to photograph the getting-ready moments and didn't leave until well after dark, when the last of the evening's bonfire sparks were shooting up into the night sky. In between: a ceremony, a reception, and eventually, whoopie pies passed around while guests sang by the fire.

A day that opens with morning coffee and closes with dessert around a bonfire is, in my experience, about as good as wedding days get.
