Rob's mom, Monica, called me late last year looking for a local photographer for her son's wedding celebration. Sheena and Rob had already married in Hong Kong during the pandemic, in a ceremony COVID had shrunk down considerably, and Monica wasn't about to let that be the whole story. She booked the historic Powelton Club in Newburgh, NY — conveniently, about a solid 7-iron from my own front door. Even after years of doing this, I still get nervous walking into a room where I know almost nobody, and this time I knew exactly zero people, having booked the whole thing over the phone with a woman I'd never met in person. I needn't have worried. Rob spotted me the second I walked in, crossed the room, introduced himself as the groom, and shook my hand like we were old friends; Sheena and Monica followed with hugs. By the end of the night, someone always beat me to carrying things before I could offer. Rob & Sheena are surrounded by people who show up for them — and we got some genuinely great photos along the way, too.
