Years ago, at a mutual friend's apartment in Queens, I overheard the tail end of Victor and Sean's conversation — something like "yeah... we should get married" — and, being unable to keep my mouth shut, blurted out that they'd just gotten engaged. They hadn't. They were engaged to be engaged, apparently a real stage of a relationship. Fast forward to January 2020, and it was official — real, actual engaged — with a wedding planned for October 20th at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. Then the world changed. Victor kept me posted through the spring and summer of 2020, first hopeful things would be normal by fall, then not. In the end they kept their date and got married anyway, just smaller and masked, with the big celebration pushed to the following year. Getting to witness two old friends get married in the middle of a global pandemic, and being trusted to hold onto those memories, was an honor I don't take lightly. And the good news: Big Bird and Kermit weren't going anywhere either — they'd get their turn at Part II in 2021.
